Thanks, Odes.  I had hoped members would join in the fun and make wise comments about their experiences trying to climb the wall around Music Row.

Guess I had most of the fun  myself!

I'm overwhelmed at being part of such an elite group .... HHhhmmmm... maybe I should be underwhelmed!

There's always a song contest in our heads, Bob. You can make the rules, write the song, enter it, then declare yourself the winner!! All with the approval of BSI, of course. Thanks again for your contribution.

Does anyone know if there is gonna be a Christmas song contest? I wanted to enter the Halloween song contest but there wasn't one! :(

I can't think of a way to turn your story into a BSI contest. I am grateful that you have contributed your thoughts to our LARGE BSI membership. Wish more would do the same!

I have a guitarist friend who punched a hole in his classical guitar to make it look like Willie Nelson's old Martin "Trigger." I guess there might have been a contest for a Willie Nelson guitar-lookalike contest? But I digress...

BSI, in my immediate area, regrets that the Buddy Cannon Look-Alike contest has been canceled due to an absence of entries. We can think of only two reasons for this:
1. no one else looks like Buddy Cannon
2. no one will admit they look like Buddy Cannon
Sorry to have gotten your hopes up, but keep in touch for future meaningless events

We have our first WINNER in the UNSOLICITED MATERIAL song contest! Don't forget: each entry is a winner!

UNSOLICITED MATERIAL

An old black dog trotted sideways down our street
Sniffin' at the hydrant, sniffin' at our feet
He seemed to be tryin' to find his way home
We gave him some water and tossed him a bone
He licked all our hands and gave us one last sniff
Then, went into our yard and left us a gift

UNSOLICITED MATERIAL is what that dog left in our yard
I'll clean it up later, after it becomes hard
UNSOLICITED MATERIAL is what I would love to give
That dog's owner, if I knew where he lived

Wouldn't it be perfect if all of us trusted
Each other like dogs do, and forgot all the tricks
That major labels use to protect their own turf
From those evil songwriters who want to steal their worth
Wonder how many songs will never make the charts,
'Cause lawyers aren't like dogs, but act more like sharks
(repeat chorus)
What would writers do without a bone to pick?
What would bones do without a dog that licks?
(repeat chorus)
UNSOLICITED MATERIAL is what that dog left in our yard
UNSOLICITED MATERIAL is what I'm sending to Music Row

Have you seen the UNSOLICITED MATERIAL song contest? It's on facebook and every entry is a winner. One winner posted so far.
