Thanks for visiting!

I love all styles of music, and that probably comes though in my songs. My parents moved us from New Zealand to California when I was six years old, and we went from a very-rural country life on a New Zealand chicken farm to a southern California tract house Talk about culture shock! We went from no radio to The Beatles, Peter, Paul and Mary, Simon and Garfunkle overnight, and the impact that had me musically was immense. Elton John's country-influenced album Tumbleweed Connection (and my mother's Cal Smith and Willie Nelson records) sparked an interest in country music, and it wasn't long before I was hooked on Merle Haggard, Bob Wills and Waylon Jennings. My music is a little bit of all these artists, so hopefully that makes my songs a little unique. I was always as interested in the songwriters as I was the artists themselves, and started writing my first songs in my early teens.

I didn't get really serious about songwriting until recently though, and I recorded my first demo "I'd Rather Be Lucky Than Good" in July of 2008. Since then I've recorded about one per month, most of which are on this page. Recently I've been writing a few adult-contemporary songs as well.

I'm currently involved in the NSC/Ash Street Music apprenticeship program, and now that I'm in Nashville frequently I'm meeting some wonderful people with a shared interest in the music we all love. It's a great thing!

I can be reached by phone at 804-387-4669, just in case you'd like to include one of my songs on your next double-platinum project!!

Wishing you all great success and happiness!

2nd Visit to Ash Street

Posted on August 25, 2009 at 4:11am 1 Comment

Just finished up my second visit to Ash Street Music under the NSC/Ash Street co-op apprenticeship program.

As before, June and Tom are absolutely fantastic! I love them to pieces! These two really care about us struggling songwriters. They've both been there themselves, and their little house on 16th Street is all about their dream too. I cannot imagine a better place to land to get to know Nashville. As I told them at dinner one night, if not for them I would roam the streets of… Continue

Cam, we should write together sometime, we'd never get any sleep. LOL I am always thinking how I should have rewritten my songs when I hear them, so, I don't listen anymore after a few months. Unless I have a pitch opportunity, then I listen to decide which to pitch. Guess there is no perfect song. ;-)
