Having lived in Nashville since 1973, I entered the music business in early 1998. I began by running the business side of a professional recording studio, Comanche Sound Studio, on Nashville's Music Row. I ran the studio for two and one half years, and while there made many music connections and started my two music publishing companies, Abear Publishing (BMI) and Songtown Publishing (ASCAP).
My two music publishing catalogs contain over 500 original songs and include songs by top level writers who have written number one country hits. We have songs published by over 20 writers including Mark Gray who wrote "Take Me Down" and "The Closer You Get" for Alabama and Kathy Louvin who wrote "Queen of Memphis" for Confederate Railroad and "True Blue Fool" for Martina Mc Bride..
Some of our other writers include Bill and Jody Emerson (who have had 16 George Jones cuts as well as one by Tom Jones and Ray Charles) , Clinton Gregory (a world class singer and fiddle player), and Kimber Manning (professional singer/songwriter)
In addition we have many wonderful songs by new writers, some of whom are singer/songwriters.
Our cuts to date have primarily been by rising independent artists but we have had songs placed on hold by major artists such as Alan Jackson.
We work with other publishers in town Bob Stegall, Dan Bischoff, Bill Holmes, and Jamey Whiting as well as Big Fish Music in Hollywood California in pitching our songs to recording artists and to TV and movies..
Our catalog consists primarily of country, country/pop, pop, Christian and even a few dance (house) songs.
We also have numerous songs by two of our writers on "Redneck" comedy Christmas albums that sell very well at Walmart.
We are in process of developing a strong website to present our songs, but at present only have a few up at the following websites:
