Well, hello everyone! My name is T.J. Kirby and I would like to introduce myself and give you a little background information. I was born in 1952 in Atlanta, Georgia and music has had a major influence on my life since that day. I remember when I was only three years old and I used to spend my allowance every week to buy myself two 45 RPM records. I guess that was letting me know what my destiny would be way back then as I have been heavily involved in the music entertainment industry ever since.
After high school, I further expanded that interest by attending and graduating from Broadcasting school in 1972 while living in Atlanta and later worked for both WRFG and WCLK radio stations. I also began my songwriting career while living in Atlanta and was heavily involved in the music business. One of my earliest accomplishments was being the founder of the Atlanta Songwriters Association. I also served for two years on the Georgia Music Week Study Committee.
In 1981, I ventured to where the heart of music is by moving to Nashville, Tennessee. Since moving here I have worked for several major radio stations such as Oldies 96.3, WSVT, WLAC and WYXE. I have also been involved with radio and television syndication and had the privilege of syndicating such shows as: Highway To Heaven, the Whoopi Goldberg Show, Best of National Geographies, Crook & Chase, and This Week in Country Music to name a few.
I am a published and recorded songwriter along with accumulating some experience in sales, marketing, promotions, and public relations. Additionally, in 1985 I hosted my own television talk show called T. J. and Friends where I interviewed various celebrities. I have also been an ASCAP writer for more than 21 years and a member of the Country Music Association. I currently host and produce my own radio show, T.J. and Company on Saturdays from 3-5 p.m. Central on WRFN Radio Free Nashville (
