Mary Chapin Carpenter's June CD is a beautiful listen . 'Ashes and Roses' contains instructions for a broken heart
''when grace has left you stranded
when you are lost and wounded
now walk into the guest room
see the outline on the pillow
the last place he was lying
smooth it without weeping'
Mary's been there! But when you haven't got a guest room ,when the outline is of the spirit, & in your heart ~then how do you smooth it.
As always ,listening to my favourite singer ,Dallas Daisy Arney, the new Ontarian country singer who burst onto the scene in the late noughties of this millenium.I'm so taken with her heartfelt and transcendent 'How Great Thou Art' this week, her 2011 Kipawa version.Find it on this artist's youtube channel. It'll raise you someplace heavenly.
Also from Canada, the grandaddy of grunge's amazing version of Canadian folk song 'My Darling Clementine',with the dirty sweet, intense ,beauty of Crazy Horse. As far as I'm concerned ,everything Neil Young touches turns to gold. Like Dallas Daisy Arney,he has the Midas touch. His latest album 'Americana' is no exception. And you've got to hear his 'God Save The Queen'.
Finally,I've fallen in love with Dallas Daisy Arney's 'You're My Angel', all over again ,this week. The mystic beauty of this masterpiece never palls.Find it on her Myspace or Reverbnation site or right here
